Julia Bohle (originally from Cologne, Germany) is an artist, photographer and designer who lives and works in London, UK. Currently, she is pursuing her Master Degrees in Photography at the Royal College of Art in London, UK. In her current project, she is looking for a sensual approach to Photography and finding a deep translation of the inner self in the photographic image. Her work mainly explores the complexity of one's identity and representation of feelings and emotions such as pain, pleasure and mystery. She is positioning herself in the context of contemporary formulations about feminity, the embodied self and its feelings and complex desires and anxieties.

She is heavily inspired by the Art Movement of Surrealism, the construction of imaginative spaces as well as the representation of extraordinary states of the unconscious mind. These are photographically implemented in an artistic and abstract way and are intended to stimulate the viewer to think and move in the space between fantasy and reality. Her work has been shown in the group show Drängende Gegenwart Urgent Present at this year's European Month of Photography in Berlin, March 2023. Furthermore, she has been shortlisted for the 14th - Aenne Biermann Prize for Contemporary German Photography. .
